Lank Dunton for Nash-Rocky Mount Board of Education, District 6
My name is Lank Dunton. I am running for Nash-Rocky Mount Board of Education in District 6.
I was raised in Rocky Mount. My wife, Liz, and I moved back to the area 13 years ago. We have two children, both enrolled in the Nash-Rocky Mount school system. Our son, Henry is in sixth grade at Edwards Middle School, and our daughter Ada is in third grade at Englewood Elementary.
I am a city executive with CresCom Bank in Rocky Mount. I have also served on several non-profit boards including Communities in Schools, United Community Ministries, Nash Community College Foundation, UNC Healthcare Foundation, and the DeLeon Carter Foundation. I am a member of Englewood Baptist Church.
I attended public schools in Rocky Mount from kindergarten through high school, graduating from Northern Nash High School in 1994. I am also a graduate of the University of North Carolina.
I have 15 years of experience in developing and implementing decisions based on financial performance, as well as negotiating deals with individuals, groups and communities.
It is my desire to get involved with the school board to improve our local schools and build our student population of 15,000+ into a strong future work force for our community and beyond. With all the exciting growth coming to our area, it is crucial that our schools help drive the growth of eligible employees for our region.
I also have a deeply personal interest in our schools being the very best. With my children a part of the Nash-Rocky Mount schools, it is very important to me as a father that they receive a quality education in a safe environment.
